Whether installed at commercial premises, residential developments, or public spaces, bollards offer a dependable way to secure areas that require controlled vehicle access.
Secure vehicle control for every site
Our bollard systems are designed to meet the demands of modern security and traffic management. We provide a range of options including fixed bollards, automatic rising bollards, and high-security anti-terrorism solutions. Each system is chosen based on the needs of your site, ensuring that the level of protection, functionality, and ease of use matches your operational requirements.
Vehicle access control is essential for protecting buildings, pedestrian areas, and sensitive locations. Bollards create a strong physical barrier that prevents unauthorised vehicles from entering restricted spaces. They are widely used to secure entrances, protect storefronts, manage traffic flow, and safeguard high-risk areas.
At Howick Automation, our bollard systems can be installed as standalone security measures or integrated with wider access control systems. By combining bollards with other entry management systems, we help create a complete and reliable security solution. This includes connections with:
Fixed bollards are ideal where permanent vehicle restriction is required. These installations provide a constant physical barrier that prevents unauthorised vehicles from entering protected areas. They are commonly used in locations where vehicle access must be stopped completely while still maintaining pedestrian access.
Fixed bollards are suitable for a wide range of environments. Their simple design makes them a reliable and low-maintenance security solution.
Automatic rising bollards provide flexible access control where vehicles need to enter and exit at certain times. The bollard lowers to allow authorised vehicles to pass and then raises again to secure the area.
This makes them an ideal choice for locations where both security and convenience are important.
These systems can be operated using remote controls, keypads, access cards, or integrated building management systems. Automatic bollards are frequently installed in:
In locations where the highest level of protection is required, anti-terrorism bollards provide advanced defence against hostile vehicle threats. Designed to withstand significant impact forces and tested to recognised security standards, they are widely used to protect critical infrastructure, government buildings, transport hubs, and other high-risk environments.
These high-security bollards deliver proven protection while maintaining the professional appearance of the surrounding environment. They can also be integrated with fixed bollards to create complete perimeter protection systems, allowing sites to maintain controlled access while achieving the highest levels of vehicle impact resistance.

Joe has been brilliant, he stayed in communication. Cannot recommend Howick enough!
We have been using these guys for 15 years. Amazing service everytime. Whether it’s planned in. Or a complete out the blue emergency. Special shout to Mike awesome professional workmanship from a highly multi skilled engineer. 🙏🙌.
Efficient and professional service every time. Kim in the office is friendly and helpful and whenever we have an issue with our gates they always attend promptly to assist, even though they weren’t the original installers. They are also reasonably priced compared to others.
Howick Automation went above and beyond when we had a panel failure to our gate motor, the timing of the failure just before a bank holiday couldn't of been worse but Mick the engineer was determined to fix and stayed until the job was done ! the parts kept arriving wrong or faulty from supplier so Will from the office jumped in his van and drove to the supplier's warehouse to pick up a replacement part and a spare motor just in case. that is the definition of customer service, it was a very stressful time for our company whilst the gate was down but we had every faith that Howick would get it fixed one way or another. special thanks to: Kim Joanna Will and last but certainly not least Mick
Had some rather large electric gates installed along with a matching side gate, the whole process from initial quote to installation was first class and they look fantastic. For privacy reasons we went with solid gates, which have caused some issues with strong winds due to the size, but Howick Forge quickly found a way to address the problem and a solution was engineered and installed. Highly recommended A++++++
I had a good experience with this business. I called about getting some work done and they were quick to advise me on what the best steps were going ahead. They worked through the complications we have with the site and were helpful in providing advice. I would not hesitate to use them again.
On the recommendation of a friend, I recently had new gates fitted by Howick Automation. I have been really happy with the efficient and professional service I received from them at every stage of the process. From the moment they came to give me an estimate to the day the gates were finished, every interaction with all members of the team has been excellent. The guys who fitted the gates were so considerate and friendly. They always turned up on time and worked with the minimum mess and disruption. This might not sound like a big deal, but in my experience this kind of service is quite rare nowadays. The team have obviously been chosen with care and trained well. It is clear that they enjoy their jobs and want to do their very best work. I am really happy with the gates, they are really great quality and supplied at a fair price. I would not hesitate to recommend this Company to any one who needs their services.
